Having a 2400 on the SAT and being black? I know a 2400 is very rare and that Affirmative Action is a major boast. However, how much will it really help you in a school like Johns Hopkins, MIT, or Duke?

Also being a National Merit Finalist.

It will definitely help–however, it does in no way guarantee admission.

^ Agreed 10char.

Okay, I am just really worried that I won’t be able to get in my dream school. This may sound really pathetic, but that is the only think I will have to look forward to in my life. It is the only think that really keeps me sane in this world of mine. =/

Bump any other opinions?

Tbh, there are much bigger things, like research, extracurriculars, sports?, and the dreaded essay.

Have you actually attained a 2400 yet or are you asking for curiosity’s sake?

I know of at least 10 people in my school with a 2400 so idt it is that exceptional

It will help, but how much, no one can say for sure. Do your best, and when you send out your applications, make sure you are proud of everything you’ve done. That’s the best anyone can hope for. The rest is really up to the universe to decide.

it boosts your app alot, but we can’t say how much unless we know the rest of your app. If I’m not mistaken, it might qualify as a hook though.

If the other parts of your application are at least average ivy/top school caliber, I would say you will get into at least one or two of HYPSM. Can’t see you getting rejected JHU and Duke without a significant flaw.

Black applicants are not hard to find and 2400 SATs are not incredibly rare either. A black applicant with a 2400, however, is very rare.

As long as the rest of your app isn’t bad, you have very good chances.

Curiosity sake. I would be going crazy if I had a 2400 right now lol.

And to those talking about the rest of the app what about a really low GPA? Like really bad around 3.2-3.3 or so…
