Do you need to do a lot of outside preparation on your own b/c your teachers have never ever talked about some of the essential materials so you feel like basically you are just self-studying?

Stats - Very good. Odd guy, but in a cool way. Knows what he’s doing. Not much outside study

Euro - not too hot. I don’t bother listening to his notes, only take them for our little Notebook grades. Has no idea that Euro doesn’t test specific details and not big ideas. Never reviewed class notes, or our mandatory timeline or study guide. Just gives us a steaming load of crap each day to do. I read Cliffs and PR, think I aced that test.

Java - Great teacher. Everything came pretty naturally, good teacher, no outside study.

Let’s just say it’s inappropriate to address them as teachers anymore…

i find that many old AP teachers are very smart and well respected but a bit out of date with tests and dont know all the resources out there to prepare for AP…but some are very good haha
all in all, outside study is essential anyway, pretty much makes it or breaks it

Chemistry: This woman needs to be given awards. It’s a sophomore, first-year chemistry course too, so she has to deal with all us brats not knowing any chemistry beforehand. It is very possible to do well on her tests if you study and get all the help you need, so it’s not like she equates tough grade scale = 5 on AP exams, but at our pretty shoddy public school where not everyone studies like a CCer, our class averages 4s.

Also, she really cares about us and is funny. How cool is that?

Statistics: great teacher. She’s young, kind of strict, and knows how to teach. Little outside studying needed except to refresh.

Bio: good teacher. Increasingly gives the responsibility of learning to the students as the year goes on (I was in a freshman AP Bio class) so we learn how to study. If we have questions, he’s more than able to answer it.

Chem: awful teacher. I don’t know why he has his teaching license. He barely teaches and gives impossible tests.

US History: fantastic. good lecturer, makes history a lot more fun than I expected it to be.

World History: decent. assigns way too much work that’s unnecessary.

Calculus AB: great teacher, knows the material very well and knows the AP and what they’re looking for.

Psychology: terrible. we don’t do anything in the class and her quizzes ask the stupidest questions that don’t prepare us for the AP at all.

English Language: good, but heavily biased and not afraid to show it. gets the job done though.

Physics C: great guy, terrible teacher. I’m 99% confident that I failed the AP exam.
APUSH: great, but we learned most of the course from the book. I could’ve aced the class without ever showing up to class.
Stats: amazing, I’m confident I got a 4 or 5 on the exam
AP English Comp.: great guy, terrible teacher. Probably gonna fail the AP tomorrow.

A lot of my teachers bad in the sense that they don’t thoroughly cover the necessary AP material, leaving a lot of the prep to the students.

Calculus BC: Amazing teacher. He is involved, knows how to teach, and genuinely cares about the success of his students on the AP Exam.

French: Very good teacher. Explains everything well, and teaches a lot (though often in side notes, so you have to pay close attention). Since the class size is small (5 people), she’s become like a parent. I would imagine that she’d have a higher pass rate if more students at my school took AP French (and also if the curve weren’t so ridiculous).

Physics B: Pretty good teacher. More of a teacher through example (he gives us so many past AP problems for homework instead of book work, which helps) than explanation.

Euro: Worst teacher I’ve ever had. This guy assigns loads of busy work (that he doesn’t even read; he just checks for completeness, so most of his students just type in unrelated information to get the points). When I went back to self-study (because I didn’t want to fail the AP test), I came across sections of history (like the English Civil War) that he had never explained. Also, a kid asked him what a “politique” was 2 days before the AP exam and he replied, “Looks like something we have to look up, huh?” In other words, this guy is a f***ing idiot.

Bio - awesome. She is a very dedicated lady. But I couldn’t have gotten a 5 with just her class. Had to prep outside of school.
Micro - like her as a teacher, I think she’s done a decent job of prepping me for my 3.
Lit - Didn’t care for her teaching style. Hoping for a 4.
Govt - Despite him creeping me out, he is a good teacher with a lot of knowledge. Only need a 3 on this one. :)

Art History = best teacher I’ve ever had. She’s committed, intense, has a personal interest in each and every one of her students and, best of all, accommodating. Great for a serial class cutter like myself. :)

Biology = worst science teacher I’ve ever had. He cares in his own way, I guess, but cannot teach the course.

Calculus = the guy couldn’t keep a hyperactive kid awake. I find the changing colors of the bush outside the window more interesting than his lessons.

World History = waste of a period. Essentially a self-study.

Environmental Science = awesome. Same guy who teaches AP Biology, in fact. When he’s in his element, he actually does quite a good job.

U.S. History = who in their right mind hired this guy?! Self-study all the way.

Government (U.S.) = total a-hole. He doesn’t teach, either–the only thing he knows how to do is give out unreasonable amounts of homework to a class of second semester seniors and threaten to fail them when it’s not completed.

English Language = pompous popinjay of a teacher. She taught me nothing; I should’ve self-studied the course.

English Literature = great teacher, but useless class.

Spanish Language = smh! How’d she get her license?

Eng Lang Comp: She’s really nice, no outside study (unless you count a lot of hw), I feel prepared, think I will get 5 but have natural talent for writing and teacher said my writing is better than her’s, did learn good stuff and read good books though

US History: nice, energetic, but he is too talkative, dont like teaching style, I didn’t take the exam and I thought that he did not prepare the students for the test but they all think they did well, gave review packets for outside study

Calculus AB: I think I did 3ish on the test but its my fault for neglecting this AP for Bio, teacher was great, we finished learning a few weeks before test and he gave us a lot of practice tests, after school sessions

Biology: teacher was great and really friendly, made teaching fun even though he’s old (jumping on desk, once he said pay attention or I’ll get mad and shoot you all lol), only finished 1/2 of book (but book is 55 chapters), offered to stay any day after school I needed, gave me review packets for outside study, I’m sure I got a 5

The teachers at my school are pretty good. I don’t think I’ve ever had a teacher at my school that genuinely did not care. The students on the other hand…

Apush - best teacher i have had in my life

ap english lang - not so great of a teacher but easy class

APUSH (last year): Amazing teacher and very helpful. He’s probably is one of the best teachers in the school when it comes to finishing the material in time (you have no idea how rare that it is in my school). Prepares his students well - he has the neat system for reviewing/prepping for the AP Exam. Most end up with 4s and 5. He’s pretty understanding and lenient.

AP Biology - I absolutely adore her! Very enthusiastic and passionate about teaching - it shows on all levels. At the same time, she is an excellent teacher in the sense, she CAN actually teach and this stuff will stay with you forever. Really fun and I love her corny metaphors haha.

AP US Gov - I’m not gonna lie - he is a helpful teacher in all other respects, but AP US Government. The problem is that he’s too busy handling everything else (Model UN, Mock Trial, some board responsibilities etc. ) during the class period that he barely teaches. And when he does, it’s all irrelevant information that won’t show up on the exam.

APUSH-I loved her. She cracked jokes all the time so it was really easy to pay attention, and she taught the material well. She told us though that we wouldn’t do very well on the exam if we just relied on her. (I think we still could have done fine)
AP Calc- Best teacher ever. I never get As in math but I did this year. This also happened to be my fave class. Pair a funny teacher with 5 class clowns=awesomeness.
AP Lang- Teacher was super nice but didn’t help us for the exam at all. We just did busy work all year.

Lit- Great! Super prepared. Tons of times writings and MC practice.

Gov- Ehhh…Teacher’s a cool guy but I dont feel like I learned anything. Mostly self studied.

Macro- ^Gov teacher does Econ second semester

Psych- Good teacher. But I took it last semester so there was a bit of self study

Calc AB- Decent teacher, I’m just crap at math. And I keep falling asleep in the class. :(

Past years
APUSH- Best teacher ever! I have him again for law :D

English Language- Learn a lot about literature and creative writing. But was totally unprepared for AP.

WHist- WORST TEACHER EVER. LEARNED NOTHING. DIGESTED PRINCETON REVIEW AND REGURGITATED IT ON TEST DAY.

World History: Teacher has not taught us anything all year. Pretty much had to self-study everything.

Quote from above post: "
WHist- WORST TEACHER EVER. LEARNED NOTHING. DIGESTED PRINCETON REVIEW… "

Calc AB: The BEST, and smartest, teacher I’ve ever had. Only one person has ever gotten a 4 on the exam after her class, the rest have been all 5s. She gave us real AP questions on tests/quizzes throughout the year and really knows what she’s talking about. I wish I could have her in college!
Lit: She prepared us well enough but her class was really boring and she is a really tough grader. I got a 5 on the language test with no effort but I find it impossible to get an A in here, let alone keep my B! Also, she spent more time talking about books and topics she liked than actually helping us prepare for the exam.
Physics B: Good enough teacher, but essentially forces self study of modern physics and optics. When he teaches well, like with pressure and mechanics, he is able to give you a thorough understanding of the concept and the problems associated with. However, I still don’t understand optics or magnetism However he still has a 90% pass rate and is overall a great teacher.
Gov: Where can I begin? Maybe with the fact that we never did a real FRQ the whole year? Or how about the countless times we watched Michael Moore movies or pirated copies of Avatar instead of learning. Needless to say, if I get a 5 it’s thanks only to my APUSH teacher and Princeton review.

most of the AP teachers here in mu school suck…

i actually had some of the best teachers this year… but i didnt take school seriously at all for the most part and almost never listened to the lectures…

so i have basically been doing stuff on my own the past 2 weeks
