My daughter has been performing since the age of 6. Her credits include film, TV, commercials, voice over, etc, but her most impressive, I think, is Broadway. It was a role in a Royal-Shakespeare produced show. The thing is, most of her credits are older now, because as she got older, she began to concentrate more on academics. We just couldn't take her out of school early to run into the city for endless auditioning anymore. She still does a little something each year professionally, just to keep her hand in. All of her community service (7 years of charity shows) and much of the rest of her ECs involve drama or vocal performance. Her academics are adaquate, but not super strong. (about a 3.6 with some advanced classes and a 29 on the ACT--will take again...she's only going into junior year) Anyone have an idea how this would look to Admission people? Also, she is not intending to major in theater...she wants to major in chemistry or physics.

With an EC like that I'd say she would make a strong candidate at any elite college.

I disagree. Short of being Jody Foster, I don't think this will bowl Yale over. I think it's a great EC for the schools she's academically qualified for though.

LOL! That's what I was thinking. She's looking into schools like TCNJ, Lehigh and Rhodes.

Is she planning to do theatre at school (outside of class, not majoring in it)? If so, it should definitely be a good hook for her. If not, I doubt it would get her very far.

Its a great hook for schools that are near her range, but it might not make up for her not-as-good academics at higher up schools

Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn. ;-)

It's a very good EC.
