I got in to some UCs as SB,I and cal Poly Pomona. I know It kind of different compared to Cal Poly SLO that i haven't received any admission yet.
Hv any of you guys been a student from this school or known about it?How good is that compared to the National school that list in USnews such as MIT, Havard, Cal Tech, UCB?
My major is electrical/computer engineerng. Also its campus? city? Area?
Im 18 and Im a transfer student.
Thanks

The Cal Poly schools along with Cal State Long Beach are the "crown jewels" of the Cal State system. That said, they do not compare with even the lowest level UC school. The UC system has the most resources and stellar faculty. Cal Poly Pomona endowment 25 million; UC Riverside endowment 121 million. UCSB is like 190 million. This is important in terms of resources and opportunities. Go to UCSB it is a great place.

I work with a talented young Cal Poly Pomona chemical engineering graduate. He has the same skills I do.

Cal Poly Pomona engineering is widely recruited by Socal firms...if you want to work in Socal, it's a good choice.

Keep in mind it's more of a commuter school...similar to UCI, but that's the nature of colleges in the LA area. UCSB and Cal Poly SLO will have the least commuter aspect and give you the feeling of going away to school. If you desire that, go to UCSB/Cal Poly SLO...IMO, UCSB has a more prestigious engineering program than UCI. All choices will give you a great education. Choose for cost, location, campus environment, etc.

CPPomona's campus is quite nice. The location is less than ideal. I would definitely want a car if I were living out there. It's quite suburban. Not that many people live on campus, but on the other hand, the campus housing is mostly new and quite luxurious. There are some nice gardens and fields operated by the agriculture department.

I'd be more interested in UCSB myself if I had the choice. That said, a Cal Poly engineering degree will serve you well in California, and if Cal Poly is much cheaper for you, then it might be a great choice.
