I got in to some UCs as SB,I and cal Poly Pomona. I know It kind of different compared to Cal Poly SLO that i haven't received any admission yet.
Hv any of you guys been a student from this school or known about it?How good is that compared to the National school that list in USnews such as MIT, Havard, Cal Tech, UCB?
My major is electrical/computer engineerng. Also its campus? city? Area?
Im 18 and Im a transfer student.
Thanks

It depends on your goals. For CE or EE, the choices you gave UCI for CE and its a toss up for EE between UCI or UCSB. Employers love Pomona and SLO grads as they have grads ready to start day 1 on the work force. In other words, very "hands on" programs. So if your goal is to work for Northrop or Boeing, I'd pick Pomona or SLO. If you are looking more to expand your options outside of the typical large companies, a curriculum with a little more technical/theoretical focus would be preferable. So if thats the case, IMO UCI or UCSB are equal choices.

UC Irvine awesome area, school is ultramodern and clean. Close to Newport Beach and Corona del mar.

UC SB awesome area, school is okay little dated buildings.

UC Pomona area is okay right around Cal Poly, but borders on not so good areas to the east of the 57 freeway. For the most part, good area.

UC SLO nice slow place, sleepy town.

I tend to think a theoretical/technical education is better than "hands on" so for that UCI and UCSB are great. I also think that the UCs will give you a MUCH better "college experience" (well, SB probably will). I'm probably biased because I live just a few minutes from Cal Poly Pomona, and in my opinion the area REALLY REALLY sucks. Its fine if you have a car though, I suppose. Its just that there is nothing to do there.
Personally, I'd pick UCSB... v. nice area, pretty good academics, you'll have a good chance at great grad schools if you try, probably something new and different from what you're used to.
