How good is Computer Science at UCF?

I was accepted to UCF a while ago and it’s one of my top choices. I really want to major in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. People say UCF is pretty good for these majors, but how is it compared to other schools like UF, FSU, or USF? Will I be at a disadvantage for choosing to go to UCF over somewhere else?

If you’re for sure staying in Florida, UCF would be the way to go. UCF is the top school in Florida for computer science. The only school in Florida that my boyfriend (who is majoring in computer science) applied to is UCF. Would you consider out of state or just instate?

I agree, for this major, UCF is tops in the state.

Look up the threads on this site. Start with UMiami vs UCF vs UF for computer science?
Good info. Personally I’d say definitely UF.

Thanks for the feedback. I forgot to mention that I am an in-state student and I’m not looking to go out of state. UF seems like a really good school for CS, but it’s really far from my home. Part of the reason UCF is a top choice for me is because it’s only about 2 hours away from my family and I’m getting a considerable amount of money from them. I just wanted to make sure that if I chose UCF, I wouldn’t be missing out.

We have been very pleased with UCF for computer science. Check out their programming team if that is of interest. Lots of opportunities there! http://www.ucfprogrammingteam.org/ They also have a nice cyber security team, and other similar things to get involved with.
