Hi, I'm actually pretty sure that I want to be a doctor, but I wanted to know how good UCSD is for law in case I change my mind. The reason is that I know I cant get into UCLA or UCB, and for the most part all the other UCs are garbage besides these 3. So I wanted to know how good UCSD is for anything besides med. Otherwise, what other UCs/Colleges are good for law?

We have a non-existent law undergrad program.

The good thing is that law schools don't require one to take any specific major in college.

I can see how someone would say UCSC/UCR/UCM are garbage (even though it is absolutely false), but to say UCSB, UCI, and UCD are garbage is just stupid.

I hope you don't get into any UC schools, bc I don't think anyone as dumb as you should poison such a great college system.

none of the UCs are "garbage". the UC system=arguably the best public school system in the US. sd/cal/la are the prestigious ones but all of them offer the same great education. prestige really doesn't mean much

Very often people do not use majors specifically related to what we think of as "law" to get into Law School; however, it is common to see people go to law with Political Science. UCSDs Poli-Sci Department is very impressive; do well gradewise and perform well on the LSATs and you have your chance anywhere.

Other majors are able to as well. History is a common major to use for Law. Engineers sometimes even pursue law. There's really no limit, as long as you meet the Law Schools guidelines for enrollment.

great question.

great answer wayytooworried.

as for the uc system outside of the big 3: they still rock socks.

**** u socal18...u shouldn't say stuff like that just because ur denying the fact u got into a ****ty school

UW_Husky88 --- I'm only a junior. But UCSB is my favorite school, along with UMiami and I would go to those 2 schools over any school. I'm not a prestige whor*e.....I actually want to go to a college that I will be happy at, not the highest ranked school on USNEWS.

Nothing wrong with what SoCal18 said. Saying all the UCs besides the top 3 "are garbage" is typical of the kind of ignorance you see on College Confidential.

I know two people that went on to Stanford law with political science degrees from UCSD (not too shabby...). To the other situation that is building up on this thread: calling any legitimate college "garbage", let alone the UC's is wrong. Some people work very hard to get into these schools, and to say, "you're going to a garbage school," is just inappropriate. UC's are very prestigious institutions that shouldn't even be said in the same category as "garbage".

Vu, where are you going to school next year? The only other Cambridge insitutions are Cambridge College, Lesley, and MIT o_o

MIT :) But my heart is going to always be with UCSD; I'm just on a brief hiatus.
