They keep sending information about their school and that they're interested in me. I was wondering how good is the school overall? Do they have a good International Relations program? And how can I compare it to GWU or AU? I want to keep my options open and if I got accepted I wanted to know if it was worth going there. Thank you :).

Also, I heard the school was small. Is this a good thing or bad? Is the surrounding city nice, because I like big city.

I don’t know much about the university itself but Richmond is not really a big city. Parts of it are nice, and parts of it are really dirty. I live in VA and when I drive through there the smell is the most notable thing about it.

URichmond is not downtown. Richmond doesnt smell. Its a lovely city.

URichmond has a long and distinguished history and reputation. Very rigorous school. Their graduates do very well.

Go visit. Its a gorgeous campus 6 miles from downtown.

The campus is in a suburb. It’s a very lovely campus. U Richmond gives out a certain number of full scholarships, which definitely make it worth looking into.

Okay, I wasn’t sure how well it was. The pictures I saw were really pretty and they send me stuff every month about their school and the scholarships Id get for my grades. Is it a good school for IR, psychology, or law? (3 majors in debating about)

Virginia Commonwealth University is located in the dirtier part of Richmond from what I understand. I know somebody who goes to URichmond and he likes it there. I don’t know a lot about their program unfortunately though.

UR is a really awesome school (I’m def. applying and would be very happy if I ended up there).

I think UR is comparable to GWU academically (and that’s about it) and favorably comparable to American. I don’t know about their IR program specifically, but I do know that they make a big deal out of International Studies and IR MIGHT be under that umbrella. I’m not sure because I’m not really considering that major. Psych is one of the most popular majors there, so I assume it’s reasonably good. They don’t have a law major, per se, but if you want to go to law school you can major in pretty much anything. One major that they have that is fairly unique that they just started is Philosophy, politics, economics, and law (all in one) which may be of interest to you. That’s one positive for me.

If you have any questions about the school, I’ve visited a couple times so I know quite a bit about it haha. Maybe we’ll be '15s together

Well, anything that is International related. IS, IR, etc… My #1 goal is to work for the government. Yet I keep my options open just in case; therefore, my plan 2 is developmental psychology. My plan 3 is a lawyer. I know they’re so diverse… I seriously do not know what the choose! Anyway, they were interested in me and I thought the school was beautiful. The only downside is, is that 1. It’s not in a major city and 2. I’m not sure how well the internships are.

I think Nulli has it just about perfect.

But say I got accepted to gwu, American, and ur, which is better?

Check out the campus:

It is a very pretty campus.

One of the most beautiful campuses we visited…Small school though. This years freshman class will consist of approx 700 students…They call it living in a bubble.Campus is somewhat isolated. Most students dont leave campus for not much else to do, so partying is a huge pasttime from what we hear!!Big greek life…Academically it is quite challenging.Small classes which are a plus.Profs know everyone by name…No slacking going on here…Very southern…Loved it.D was quite upset when she got waitlisted but everything turned out great in the end.Got into another wonderful school with a very nice scholarship pkg, so we are very happy she did not get off waitlist…Well worth visiting though…She would have been very happy there too!

Below W&M, close to UVirginia, better than JMU. Furman and Bucknell/Lehigh would be good peers.

I am a guidance counselor and my son will be a freshman there in August. It is a very rigorous school academically, has a great reputation, wonderful financial aid and a gorgeous campus. It has about 2800 students and offers students research opportunities, small classes and in my opinion, a superb education. I highly recommend it!

That’s good, I’m just concerned because I love city life. I’m not too big with isolation. I’m probably going to apply, though. So is it considered a better school than American?

Yes, it is better than American.

Even for International Studies major? Which is what I’m looking to study in. And if I decide that I don’t want to do IS, I wanted to go to law school after. Is that a good idea?

“and 2. I’m not sure how well the internships are.”

Just a nit, but internships are “good” not “well”. Hope you have someone proofread your essays.
