How hard are the classes at loyola md?

I know that every course in every college/university is very challenging but comparing to schools such as UMD-CP, are the classes here very difficult? I am thinking about majoring in something in the sciences, maybe bio or chem, so i can attempt to get into med school. I talked to the science directors of both schools (loyola and umd) and they both said that their medical school acceptance rate is around 85%. So which ever school is easier to get an A in is the school I want to go to. Should i go to loyola md or umd?

any school that is not challenging and provides its students with access to an easy A is not somewhere you want to attend, especially going into medical school. both loyola and umd have challenging curriculums but these schools cannot be compared, or at least i don’t prefer to compare them to each other. loyola is a liberal arts college with a jesuit approach to learning. this means that the core curriculum is vigorous and will not be easy. the jesuits believed that students needed to be well-rounded and it was important to focus on the whole person, hence why a core curriculum must be completed. however, umd is a public university, larger, and does not require its students to complete a core curriculum. umd has a great biology program that is well-known throughout the country, but loyola has a great biology program that is well-known throughout baltimore. personally, i chose loyola because of its values, its professors, its undergraduate research opportunities, and its biology program. when being a student at loyola your grades are not handed to you on a silver platter, but the professors have an open-door policy and want to help you achieve your very best. either way, you cannot go wrong with choosing loyola or umd.

Do the professors at Loyola know what they are talking about? And are the stuff they teach implied into their exams? My high school teachers have no idea what they’re doing and their lectures are pointless. I know that a majority of the answers on exams are from your textbook but do the professors tell you how to do procedures that may be on exams? Ex. Will a bio professor be like the nucleus contains DNA and on the test be like which of the following do not have DNA… ?

US News and World Report ranked Loyola Maryland #3 in their North Region review. Loyola could not have earned this top ranking if their faculty members were not top notch. My son is entering his sophomore year this fall and the core curriculum has already given him a strong foundation as he works towards a final decision on what his major will be. Classes are challenging, and professors work with dedicated students, all with the same goal of success in learning.

I can’t imagine any university that would offer easy A’s in the sciences, for students working towards a career in the medical field. I sure hope there isn’t an easy ride, as our society needs hard working dedicated individuals to build our health care system even stronger.

You might want to really think about your major and be sure that you are up for the challenge of science courses and ultimately applying to medical schools. I’m sure you are, now you just need to get yourself psyched to work hard towards such a goal, the rewards will be worth your effort. Good Luck!

oh ok. thanks so much.
