Floridadad: with all due respect, you have been around these parts since only last year…while the OP has a very good chance, the only reason the “top NYC HS” 50% of the class were admitted it because UMIch wants full pay OOS kids since the financial meltdown…

You cannot generalize that it’s not so hard to get in OOS…unless you are a UMich admissions officer…

Look at the results from 2008-2010…on CC…many very high stats OOS kids were not accepted…

Sorry to go off topic, but someone posted an article on here last week saying that Michigan will still maintain need-blind admissions. But on the supplement it asks for income so that contradicts it to an extent? Are my OOS chances improved b/c I don’t need any FA and dad makes over 200k?

rushedmom, No I do not think UMich is too much of a reach for your D, although it is a slight reach. She has a decent chance for acceptance and there’s also a chance that she may not be accepted. Her ACT is the better score of the two and hopefully that’s the one she sent. It’s not only harder for OOS students to get accepted, it’s harder for OOS families to pay for it!:(

If your daughter has the course rigor to match the 3.98, she will get in absent any red flags in the essays and recommendations. ACT 31 is fine. I would not retake.

Thanks for all the feedback…
She has taken almost all pre/ap classes and is at a pretty competetive HS.
She sent both test scores and had good essays.
She is applying to Ann Arbor…
How long does it take to find out an answer?

If you apply by November 1 you get a response by December 23. You probably won’t hear much sooner than that.

Accounting is in the Ross School. You can’t apply to that out of high school but there is a pre-admit program for a limited number of applicants.
