I was considering doing a business/engineering double major.
This is something you or anyone else won’t know if you can handle until you get here and try it. I think a business minor is more common for engineering majors rather than a double major. It most likely ultimately depends on your engineering major and if you can obtain the GPA for both majors and manage your time for all of your classes. I can almost guarantee you will not graduate in 4 years with this route.
My advice to you is to first contact an engineering advisor and talk this through with them. If you still decide you want to give double majoring a go, then start thinking about a backup just in case (such as just majoring in engineering, business, taking up a business minor, or a new major altogether) and really strive for managing your time well in your pre-req classes. Don’t let weed out classes weed you out. Also, if things get tough early, it’s better to take a W on your transcript your first semester rather than get yourself into a low-GPA hole early on.
My son is currently a freshman in the IBE program. He will come out with an engineering major with a business minor. Look into it, he had to submit a video to get into the program. Overall he likes it, but tons of work.
