Hey! I just finished my junior year of high school and first year as a full IB diploma candidate. My grades were 3 C’s (math, bio, history) and 4 A’s (french, art, english, econ). My final grades werent the best because i did terrible on my finals… For freshman year and sophomore year tho i was an all A/one B student.
More info:
Gpa: 3.7960 (school only gives out weighted)
Sat: 1520 (retaking)
Am I doomed for richmond because my junior grades werent top notch?
I would never say you are doomed. Richmond is very grade and stats oriented though if you look at theiir common data set. Other factors are not considered as strongly. I’m sure however there must be students who were accepted with less than perfect grades and SAT. Just make sure you are applying to other schools and have a few safeties on your list.
UR is definitely a reach. Even with a higher SAT score (think 1900+, that’s the range you should be in), that GPA will be hard to overcome. UR has an approx 30% acceptance rate.
UR is not very stats oriented, however, like most schools they single out GPA and course rigor as the two most important factors. There is a long list of factors they consider important, including SATs, essays, recs, ECs, talent/ability, and character/personal qualities.
so should i drop the ib diploma and move to certificate? Or would that look bad?
I could take like 5 ib classes instead of 6…
my ECs are:
-full year voluntry commitment at local hospital
-NHS (enviornment group leader)
-Scottish Dancing (since i was 6, got 1st place)
-Piano( since i was 6, got 2nd place in competition, played at carnegie hall)
-Key club
Junior year was so tough for me because i got really sad…my aunt got cancer…but im willing to work extra harder next year for A’s and B’s
