I got a 30 on science, and I would like to know how I can finish the test. I often fall short of finishing. I always go the questions first by the way. Anyway, I am just curious to know how hard it is to improve science. I am familiar with the format, but have only taken 1 or 2 practice test. How long would it likely take to improve my score to a 32 or a 34? Is science easier to improve in than reading? If you could compare how hard science is to improve to other sections that would bare great.
Science is harder to improve than Math or English, but easier than Reading. This is a generalization based on a study of hundreds of students. YMMV. You only need a few more correct answers. Try to figure out if you are having timing trouble or are falling for traps. Improved timing may involve reading less and focusing more on the questions being asked. It may also require triage – figure out which questions give you the highest return per minute spent. Hard questions that also take a long time are death to Science scores. Practice, practice, practice. You should be able to do it.
My daughter’s ACT tutor believes that students don’t start hitting their stride with the science section until they have done them 10 times. So take lots of practice tests of just the science section. Good luck!
