This is for the people that went in after Freshman year, so people that went to boarding school sophomore, junior, or senior year. How hard is it to make friends at BS? This seems to be a question that interviewers ask a lot: "How do you feel about leaving all your friends behind?" I'm just curious about how long it took you guys to adapt and connect with other students, new students and students that had already gone previously.

my interviewers never asked me that o_O
though they did ask me about how it feels like to leave my family since im an only child

if you mention early on in the interview, or at least somehow let it indirectly, but intentionally slip that you are good with new people (ie. summer camp was mine, i think. or if you've recently been deemed a new student at your current school, or active club participation w/ people you don't know etc) i think they go like "oh, he/she'll adapt okay so that's not a problem"

EDIT: as for making friends, it would be hard if everybody did preseason and you were the only one left out. usually if you're going to a smaller school it's really easy to make friends with anyone. larger school, it's easier to find friends.

It's easy in the beginning but it gets downright tricky after the "honeymoon" is over. PM me if you'd like.

It depends on your personality. My D is not very social, but she made a lot of friends already. That means it is not really hard to make friends. First of all, there are a few friends already who used to be her classmates in middle school. That helps a lot.

great. i'm really social and outgoing in school so i guess making friends won't be hard :)

Actually when I went onto most campuses I said stuff like, "hey bro, I'm an interview kid any chance you know where stuff is?" I talked to each person about 4-10 minutes. Overall most of the kids were intelligent and I am "friends" with almost everyone in my grade just cause I'm that type of person and I found that to be very true with the 20ish kids I met from 4 schools. Most of them seemed to be friendly, intelligent and just your average high school kids.

If you have friends at your school... You will probably have friends at baording school. Probably closer friends.
