When you get there how hard is it to bond with your roomate? How did you bond with them? Was it awkward the first night? Any insight would be great.

my sister attends a bs, and this year is her first year, and she hates living there because of her roommate. this was just a bad situation though as my sister applied late, and was probably given the last room//roommate available, but she and her roommate just dont talk at all and have nothing in common. now im sure this isnt the same for a lot of people out there! but i just thought id share this with you

Yikees.
I want a coolio nice roommate!!
Is that to much to askk?

hahahaha im right there with ya crickett. thats all im asking for

So I can have an instant friend at BS

Yeah, all the kids whom I know are way older, if I go, I need to make freshman friends on the spot, Ill go after my room mate! lol

Hopefully parents or students with experience will reply however, we were told by several schools that they send out an extensive list of questions to all new students and they try to match up roomies based on those. Of course, there is no guarantee that you'll get along but they do their best. After your first year there, you can request your roommate I beleive.

i hope i get someone during my first year that i can actually be friendly with, especially because thats the time during which you adjust to the school and being away from home, which will definitely be hard without anyone else there you can be close to.

While it would be nice to get a great roommate, don't forget that you will have hallmates and dormmates for companionship!

If I go I want a roommate that I am friendly with but not friends with

Obviously, every roommate situation is different. It wasn't hard to bond with my roommate because we had plenty of time to talk during moving in and orientation. The first couple days we hung out together with the other new girls in our dorm and got to know the people we'd be living with. It's something that will come pretty naturally because everyone be nervous and want to know someone else. The schools generally do a good job of matching up roommate pairs and dorms. It's always a little awkward the first couple of days because you're trying to get used to living with a stranger, but it goes away pretty fast.

they try to match you up with someone who will be a good roommate, but usually it doesnt work out perfectly. . .

If I were to get in to a boarding school (oh pls dear God) I would want a roommate with whom I would have an insta-friend.

35 teenage girls + 80's pop + teen trash magazines = plenty of friendship opportunities

(Haha. Thats been my experience)

sounds like heaven crickett.
But I thouht you were a applicant, like me. Not a current boarder.

I am but I've been thrust into many awkward situations that I've made less awkward :)
