What are your SAT/ACT scores?
What is the rigor of your high school courses? How many APs?
What is your weighted GPA (by FSU's standards)?
Are you a URM? You are probably Irish, but just checking..

I got in with a 3.5UW/4.0W and a 1340 SAT/30 ACT.
I expect this coming year to be pretty competitive, so good luck!

I'm taking the in like 2 months for the first time, starting junior... Anyway, if you apply for summer admissions; is it really easier to get in?

Summer is easier than Fall.

If you get a solid (I'd say 1270+) SAT score you'll have a decent chance, but FSU is harder to get into now since enrollment was capped, so that may not be the case.

What I'm interested in though is @p2n - do you know that for a fact? That's one of the things we kind of guess at over in Gatorland but nobody really knows for sure. I'm curious to know if FSU makes that known, or what have you.

Applying for summer admissions gives you an advantage at FSU, but not at UF. UF puts all the applicants into 1 pool (since they have 1 admissions period), and evaluates everyone together. Whoever was accepted and indicated they wanted Summer session are put into summer. Then, they pull people who applied for fall and put them into the summer/spring semesters to meet the quota.

The FSU admissions counselors told me that summer applicants have a better chance of getting accepted with lower qualifications, which is also indicated in the summer admits stats. Some people are just eager to start, so they apply for the summer session. I would say you have a solid chance for summer admissions if you get a 1270 SAT/28 ACT and have a decent course load.

Worst case scenario; I will have to transfer. Tell me about transferring... How hard is it to transfer into FSU after one semester at FIU? I have to be in the accounting program here, will it affect me if I'm late?

I really wouldn't worry about all that. Just make sure you do well senior year and study for the SAT/ACT.
will it affect me if I'm late?

I don't understand what you mean

I'm majoring in accounting and finance, and I am planning on obtaining my 5th year MAcc as well... When do you apply to your major, "in my case it's accounting." Do you apply after your fr year or are you admitted to your major right when you get in FSU? I'm just worried if I have to transfer a year late, I will be too late for my major...

You have to be admitted into the college of business.
Here are the requirements for this limited access major:
College of Business | Undergraduate Programs Office | Admissions Requirements

^Ensure you meet the CoB requirements at FIU if at all possible.

"Limited access" means the program is competitive to enter.

Is the Dedman School of Hospitality as competitive (scores/tests) as the other colleges within FSU?

here are the stats as listed on the web site for fall 2008. i would assume they will only get a bit tougher this year. With the additional possibility of further cuts in enrollment it is in my opinion more important than ever to get your app in asap, especially if you think your profile is on the fence. .I also think that this year will be the first that FSU will be factoring in the writing portion of the SAT. My s had SAT's in the mid 1200's, GPA of 3.52, oos and applied for summer C in the first admission deadline last year. His friend from his hs, missed the first admissions deadline, applied for the second deadline and was rejected with an SAT of 1320...

The middle 50% of the Fall 2008 accepted freshman class is: 3.7-4.2 GPA; 1190-1330 SAT (Critical Reading plus Math); 26-29 ACT.

The top quartile of our Fall 2008 accepted freshman class rivals any selective school in the nation with an average GPA of 4.43, and average SAT of 1398 (Critical Reading plus Math), and an average ACT composite of 31.

Our top five colleges by enrollment are: Arts and Sciences, Business, Social Sciences, Human Sciences and Education.

"His friend from his hs, missed the first admissions deadline, applied for the second deadline and was rejected with an SAT of 1320..."

Being rejected with a SAT score of 1320 is telling. A 1320 under the older admission standards was generally good enough to gain entry to Honors. It may not be the case anymore.
