How hard is to stay and Do Well in Engineering?

Hi , I recently got accepted into the Cockrell School of Engineering for Spring 2011 (Chem E).

I was wondering what the "Engineering College Rules" were?

As in, are we allowed to take a class more than once? In example, withdraw from a class and retake it the following semester?

-Also, I have fulfilled most of my first year classes because Ive completed 1.5 years at UH so all the Calculus's (1,2,3) Gen Chem (1,2), Orgo (1) Physics (1) ive already endured. How hard can I expect the Chem E class to be? Will they all be weed out classes?

I guess im just asking how generally difficult the classes are and If I am capable of doing well.

Im going to post my stats so if you can gauge how well I am capable of handling this program, please do tell.

Sat Math:690 Act Math: 33

UH GPA 3.51
Note: My overall transfer GPA was a 3.78 due to CC classes hence my admission.

Is it realistic for me to do decent ( at least 3.0 GPA ) at Cockrell Chem E?

Or should I just try to stay at UH and try to maintain a 3.5?

Its going to be really difficult to maintain a 3.0 unless you study alot.
I know one kid with a 4.0 but this kid rarely studies and he is an international kid.

I understand that you have to study a lot but what Im asking is how others on this forum think about my “potential” to succeed or at least keep up with the coursework and be able to balance a decent social life?

This is pretty much the biggest factor I will use to decide If I am going to transfer or not.
