im so nervous!!!!!!!
i came to us a year ago(its my first school year+im junior)
and i hoping for 1400..
what your opinion is it possible??????

A 1400 on the SAT isn’t very good… Maybe you meant 2400??? Anyway, study study study!!! The SAT is VERY important…

And if you mean a 1400 like Math and Reading composite, it is a bit hard, but definitely possible for anyone to get…

a) where from (how much English do you know)
b) 1400/1600 or 1400/2400?

1400/2400 is like 40%tile, so it isn’t hard at all.

1400/1600 (no one really uses this scale anymore), is fairly difficult. It will require some studying, but most people can accomplish this.

i mean 1400/2400:p
im from israel…and im not esl student…
my english got emproved by a lot since i came here…
but i dont know if its anough to get 1400…
im scared to death!!!my perents cant help me,and we dont have the money to efford tutering!!!
i got a bad feeling…
can u just give me some tips like guessing and stuff…
my math is very high (math team for next year)…but the reading is
horable!!!

Right now your main goal should be to improve on your English grammar and spelling. Without this you will not survive the Writing or Reading section…

If you’re very good at math and you might be able to get a 700, then on reading and writing you would only need 350 each. Each section has 200 free points so if you get some of the questions right you might be able to achieve a 1400. Just a tip, you lose points for wrong answers so don’t put too many random answers down because that can seriously hurt your score if you guess on too many.

so when i know to guess…

You probably shouldn’t worry about the SAT.

Or you could take the ACT. The score n the science sections (with the math score too) will definately help even out your english and reading scores.

My advice:

Read as much as you can in English. Find online newspapers or fanfiction (whatever floats your boat) and read it. Honestly, it’s one of the best ways to pick up words and spellings. You may not be reading really hard books in English to begin with, but with time you will improve. Also, as hard as it may seem, I’d try to write as much as possible and get used to the words and common phrases (idioms).

I know many people who have really improved their English/second languages through constant exposure to the language.

My advice is improve not emprove and enough not anough.

I also study English as a second language. SAT is nearly to kill me now.

so u didnt answered my question about the sat score…
is that possible (for me) to get 1500-1400???

Anything is possible. Weather you achieve your goals or not depends on the work you put in.

danielia, have you taken any practice tests? You will have a better idea of where you are if you take several SAT’s for practice.

Also, a 1400/2400 is not hard at all. You can get that score by doing well on math and just guessing on the critical reading and writing sections. Moreover, if you have even the remotest idea of the structure of the english language, you should be able to get at least 5-10 (out of 20 or 25) in each CR section and at least 10-15 (out of 35) in the big writing section. Even if you guess wrong on every other question, this should still be enough to give you a 1400…

thank you very much!!!

Try and improve your math as much as possible as well.

You’re not going to get in anywhere with 1400/2400. It is quite bad. But that’s not your fault.

Colleges want non-native English speakers to take the TOEFL. Check their websites
