How has UIUC CS Transfer rate changed this year?

I know 2014 FA average GPA for UIUC CS transfer was 3.5, but 2015 FA was 3.8. I’m wondering how it is for 2016 FA. Any increase/decrease?

Last year while researching I read it was 3.7 in 2014. My son is still waiting to hear with a 3.9. Has anyone been admitted yet? I’ve only found one post on here saying someone was admitted in cs as a transfer. That student was out of state and my son is in-state. We just keep waiting and checking…

@MSL1214 I’ve researched a lot on reddit. I’ve seen people with 3.5 ,3.7 and 4.0 GPA get accepted as a transfer from Illinois community college this year. Although they said they were non traditional student (older) not sure if that plays a role. I would assume your son has a pretty good chance of getting in considering he has 3.9 GPA.

I am assuming there are lot more spots available for transfer students, because they don’t have to compete for freshman CS classes. Did your son complete all the requirements?

I’m a traditional student. I got in with a 4.0 GPA. I’ve finished all the required courses except Quantum Physics which I will take in the summer. Hope this helps.

He is missing a class or two that were not offered in our area. He did note that they were not available. His friend was admitted last week with a 3.8, from the same in-state cc, less extra-curriculars, and missing the same classes. We are still waiting to hear though

@MSL1214 I talked to a rep that visited my CC today and I was told that engineering decisions (and I would assume CS as well) are all made at the same time and decisions will be released in two to three weeks.

Yeah, it’s just a little nerve wracking when some people are being admitted already. Waiting isn’t fun, is it? Good luck to you all. I’m an Illini engineering alumn and I hope you all get in.
