I know that EC's are important regardless of what college you wish to attend, but I also know that some colleges see it as a make or break factor, while others are not so EC focused.

I don't have many EC's, just French Club, 80 hours volunteer at the YMCA, writing for the school newspaper, and working (well volunteering actually), at a local radio station.

Now I'm taking AP classes, and have a 3.82 GPA currently. I'm a soon to be Junior, so I know it's a little early to ask this (so don't hate on me please), but I just want to know how much the UW cares about EC's.

Thanks,
Alexander M.

If you mean WUSTL, they will use ECs to distinguish between qualified applicants to build a well-rounded freshman class.

If you were a 4.00/2400 candidate, you might not need particularly notable ECs, but with a midrange (for WUSTL, not in general!) GPA, not being particularly notable in any one area could hurt you.

Oh I should have made this more clear, sorry. I meant the University of Washington in Seattle.

You really should be fine. I know some people way worse off than you. Also, are you local? (I am…) That should also help a LOT in the admissions process.

EC’s at UW will def help you in the Honors college, but for general admission, just keep the stats high and you’ll be in with what you have.
