i got a few b's (first time ever) mid year cuz i got sick. should i let admissions know this or does it sound like an excuse. i was deferred and prob won't get in now.

mid year reports are important!..yes explain in a note what happened to you! dont give up!

They are important because the most recent grades are the best measure of how well you will do in college. Make sure you explain the circumstances.

i got my 1st ever A-.

omg....i'll supply the gun if you get the bullet.....j/k :P

I got one bad grade 2nd quarter, but it doesn't show up on the midyear grade. Do they see 2nd quarter grades?

Usually no.

second quater yes.... second trimester no... they want half they year.. so first 2 quaters.

What I got:
1st: A, 2nd: B, Mid-year: A-

On my updated transcript, it just shows the A-.

Actually, I just checked on CommonApp.org. The midyear report just asked for "academic performance for the first semester". So I guess I can just give them my midyear grades, not 1st and 2nd in detail.

Wait... I have a question. My grades were relatively low 1st quarter senior year. Second quarter, about half of them went up. However, these grades are still not as high as grades 9th-11th. I applied early to Yale, so they didn't get my 1st quarter grades. Do you think it's better for them to see that I improved from 1st quarter to 2nd quarter or just simply send in the midterm grades and not let them see the one B 2nd quarter?
