I just got my Nov. SAT II scores back from US history and lit...basically, both of them are lacking for an ivy. I didn't break 700s in either.
I hope this does not completely deprive me of a chance for Cornell. I have a pretty decent ACT score (33), and good APs (all 4s...including English and in US history...so would that make up for my SAT IIs?).
I also applied ED into the college of Arts and Sciences.
Additionally, I heard somewhere that colleges evaluate your SAT IIs based on your background. I can vouch that my school does not prepare me for tests like these because I go to a rural public school in Southern Missisippi....we don't send people to ivies..like ever. So would that help me a bit? Probably not right...cos I'm Asian. =D Darn.
Help me out you guys. Are SAT IIs SUPER IMPORTANT FOR CORNELL OR NOT? crosses fingers hopefully NOT.

anyone? PLEASE HELP!

i hope they are not that important cause i'm not that great in math... and for the hotel school i have to take the sat 2 math level 1 or 2 which im gonna take level 1....

yes they are very important

I'm certainly not an expert, but I would say that they are important but not so much so that it's impossible to make up for any deficiencies there with stellar stats in other categories.

I'd say that they're important, but not nearly as important as SAT I's or the transcript. As for the AP scores... i wouldnt say all 4's would help you at all, it would probably just confirm what they know from your SAT II scores. If you're not getting a 5 on your US AP they're not going to expect a 700+ on the SAT II.

i hope they are extremely important, because i did horrible SAT I but really good and satisfying sat IIs

what...are you kidding me? People with 4s on APs can't get 700+s...that's a pretty ludicrous statement to make. I might just be a dumb Asian...but I don't think 4s on any AP test is BAD. While anything below a 700 on SAT IIs are pretty bad for an ivy. Then again, perhaps I can play it off cool that I'm not an American citizen and have only lived here a few years ;P
haha. I wish....
But I was on www.collegedata.com, and saw a lot of students who got into Cornell in past years with high SAT I scores, but high 600s on their SAT IIs...so perhaps I have a chance! =D

you are applying to CAS...which is probably the most selective school at cornell b/c thats where most applicants apply, and you're asian. SAT IIs are very important, so important, that they are REQUIRED...if they weren't required, then maybe you shouldn't worry. im even a college freshman and i just took subject exams in math2 and physics (applying to ILR as a transfer). and btw, a 4 on an AP generally means you'd score <700 on the particular SAT II. good luck.

you guys...this is really freaking me out. I have solid everything except for SAT IIs. Is there really no way I can get into CAS ED with high 600s on SAT IIs?
