They will not even exist after next year! My counselor told me to just take the SAT subject tests and get solid scores because colleges don't really consider them anymore these days. That basically translated to "Go wing it" to me, so I didn't study for my SAT subject tests and got scores in the low 600 range. After seeing everyone on here panicking about raising their 780s, I feel worried.

So are they really that big of a deal (and should I study and retake them to get competetive scores)? Again, this is the last year they will be required for admissions to competetive colleges. I just feel they are not worth my time.

Your counselor is wrong. You still need the SAT Subjects except for the UC schools starting 2012. Also UC will require them for some majors. Do not relax or be lazy unless you want to go to a 2 year college. Some of those High School Counselors are too lazy and it is easier for lazy students like you to fall for it. Study and you will never regret it!!!

lol another retarted guidance counselar who doesnt know what he or she is talking about, lol one of my friends gc said that they average SAT scores from two dates, lol.

SAT 2’s are one of the most important part of your application at the top schools that require it, and no they are not getting rid of them.

oh, sorrry for the confusion. competetive or at least decent colleges are really the only ones that have ever required them for admissions, so i basically meant the same thing as they will be gone for good. but i read that on collegeboard like 3 years ago. i am pretty sure that this is true. but you are all making me doubt this now. are you guys sure that they will still be continued after 2012? damn i feel stupid for being lazy now. i had a feeling it was too good to be true when my counselor gave me the suggestion to not worry too much about them.
