How important are subject tests?

Just wondering, for top schools, how important are subject tests? I have a feeling mine aren't going to be so good--would one subject test in the 600's keep one out of a school? My SAT I is 2300+, so that's strong. How big of a role do they play?

I would say getting a SATII in the 600s would be a big hindrance to top schools and possibly keep you out. You need 2300+ on SATII as well though.

Ok thanks. Are you allowed to take SAT II’s more than once?

If you can get 2300+ on your SAT I’s you should be able to study hard and generally figure out a way to get 700+ on your SAT II’s, right?
Jackuk

ehh its just i only realized i needed sat ii’s a few weeks ago, and the aps I’ve taken this yeaar dont have subject tests-Gov and Language, so I just quickly decided to do Math II and USH, because I’ve taken ush this yr, and precalc. but the problem is, im really not a math person, so math ii is pretty hard.

Despite popular belief, SAT IIs are probably as important as SAT I at the top schools that require them. 750+ is best. Anything under 700 would probably hurt you a little bit.

Try taking literature. I actually scored way higher on my literature SAT II than my critical reading on the SAT I so it sounds like you obviously did pretty well on all sections of the SAT so try that one!
also, you don’t have to send in the score that was below 700.

ok…so if i got an 800 CR, I should get 700+ on lit?

i havent taken ap lit tho…

I didn’t take AP lit. I got a 640 on CR and a 730 on Lit. Sounds like you are probably better at standardized testing than me, so i would say yes you would get a 700 or above.
