to what extent do the SAT II score influence college admission?

The general consensus is that it's a chunk of your application, but your SAT I/ACT is more heavily factored into the admissions decision.

so if you're SAT is like 2100s and the SAT II's are in the 600s and 700s which one would you retake?

Depends on the college. Most of the colleges my d is applying to do not require SAT IIs at all.

Ex.: U of Chicago does not look at the SAT IIs.

Rice, on the other hand, requires two SAT IIs - preferably in the area you want to major. No SAT II in my d's intended major, so she took the math and lit - had already taken the bio. She figured all her bases were covered, and so happily skipped the USH (even though she had been in APUSH).

"U of Chicago does not look at the SAT IIs."

Source?

"SAT Subject Test scores are not required, but you are welcome to add them to your file."

I have a question. Would it be detrimental to take the SAT IIs to get some college credit. Some colleges I'm looking at allow you to receive college credit, while others don't. I'm trying to get some credit through SAT IIs, but what if I fail horribly, will the other colleges that don't care about SAT IIs look at me differently?

kelper,

It would make sense that you could take sat iis for credit after you've already sent in your applications, if you are worrying about it looking bad. For example, in June of your senior year, though I'm not certain.

Yeah, at the exploring excellence thing, I asked the UChicago admissions rep about the SAT IIs. She was like, "We don't care. If it would make you feel better to put them on you app, that's fine with me. But I'll probably just look at the test name and be like, 'Wow, I didn't know they had a test in that subject...'" Lols, she was really funny...

I can confirm that U of Chicago doesn't look at SAT Subject Test scores at all. U of Chicago admission officer Ruth Martin told me that last Tuesday.

See Harvard's viewbook about why not to worry about low scores. Your best scores will be considered for each test.

Yeah, you guys are right. I knew they didn't require SAT IIs; didn't know they wouldn't consider them at all.

Of course, applicants aren't putting them on the application because it "makes them feel better"; it goes on the application because other schools require them.

Well standarized testing is about like 20-25% of the application i think.
The SAT II's would be like 6-8%, while the SAT I is probably 14-17%.
