how important are the sats for transferring?

I see students retaking the SATs even though its optional for transferring after 30 or 60 credit hours. Some schools like WUSTL don't even look at your sat scores for transfer if you took them during college. So how important is your SAT scores for transferring? I never studied or did anything for the SATs and I ended up with a 1650 and my high school GPA was 3.2 Now in college my GPA is about 3.8-4.0 so will admissions look mostly upon my college performance rather than high school when I transfer?

depends on:
1. college - some colleges just look at your SAT for "support"...a kid with a 1100 SAT is not going to get into Harvard...if its along the lines of the accepted SATs of the freshmen class for your year, then you should be ok
2. your year - a SAT will be considered more for a second-year transfer than a third-year transfer...second-years have only 2 semesters under their belt, so they could have had a stellar/easy first two semesters, but a low SAT/H.S. GPA could show the true colors of the student
3. major - a major that has little to do with either the verbal or math section will not be influenced by SAT as much...an engineering/science major will have more emphasis on the math section, whereas english majors will have more emphasis on verbal section

best bet? email your college's transfer office, they'll be the best

A majority of the schools do accept SATs taken during college. If they don't, just send them the score and they will keep that number in their mind when they decide.
