Question regarding SAT and transferring

Here is my situation. I am a freshman in college with the intention of transferring after this school year. My goal is having a 4.0 GPA when I apply to schools. I should have around 31 credits under my belt after the 08-09 school year. My question is this...

I had poor grades in high school. I took the SAT but never sent them to any colleges because of how low they were. If I were to apply to schools that did not require me to send the SAT scores in, is it better just not to hand them in? Or since I had such poor grades is it better to re take them for a higher score? Remember I am out of high school and I dont know how good that would look.

This is really stressing me out so help is extremely appreicated!

They way I see it, if a college doesn't require you to submit SAT scores for admission, don't submit them unless they're super. Even though they don't "require" them, they'll still "consider" them and it's bad to give them another reason to deny the application.

I will also say, if I were an admissions officer and saw a stellar college record, I wouldn't care so much about SAT scores.

Agree, don't submit if they're not required and they're not good.

However, there is probably more to it.

If you are applying for sophomore transfer, and have only <1 semester of college when you apply, then your hs record will be looked at. Ergo, good SAT scores could help. So re-taking might make sense... you can then submit or not based on how it comes out. Many schools allow re-take after you have started college; some don't (but I think they are few).

Ok, so if they still look at the SAT scores after one semester of college it is better to hang them in right? In this case I am going to re take the SAT and actually study for them this time instead of blowing them off. What looks better on my application cant hurt right?
