I'm a rising junior that has already taken one AP course, US History. I haven't gotten my score back yet, but I feel like I did a pretty good job in the course. For my junior year, I was planning on taking AP World History and either AP Microeconomics or Statistics. However, my guidance counselor recently informed me that I could only get into World History and not the other ones because of school policy on grade level and because I have to make up a gym requirement, of all things. She assured me that junior year is not actually as important to colleges as many make it out to be. Does anyone know if this is true? I was really planning on having taken three AP courses by the end of junior year so I would have the "AP Scholar" title by the time I apply to college, and because I think it looks better than taking a gym class. Should I take an AP class outside of school? It seems University of California has some good options.

Sure AP Scholar is nice, but in reality, just do as many as your school offers.

However, I am not one to talk, as I plan for 23~ and State AP Scholar…

You could always self-study a few.

^I second that, especially since OP seems to be open to that.

I recommend one like:

AP Human Geography
AP Psychology
AP World
AP Environmental Science

You could also try these, but they are harder [but also more likely to be accepted for credit]:

AP Bio
AP Comparative Government
AP European History
AP Stats
AP Computer Science

Good Luck!
