I was wondering if I should cancel my math score and take it again next month or in October. I was expecting an 800, but I made so many careless/stupid mistakes, so there isn't a chance for a 800 for me anymore.

I was getting 700+'s on Barron's, and the test today turned out to be a lot easier than what I've been studying. There was nothing on hyperbolas, ellipses, matrices, inequalities stuff, all the harder stuff I've studied for. Instead all the easier questions screwed me up.

Do you think it's a good idea to take it again? Math is the subject I am most confident in and it's pretty unlikely I will get high 700s or 800 in other subjects.. and my main goal is going to Stanford and my GPA isn't great so I really need the high SAT scores.

So should I cancel it and retake it? Would you do it if you were in my position?

If you think you'll get above a 700, I don't think you'll cancel you should cancel your scores. I'm no authority on this, but I don't think that seeing a mid-700 is going to impress an admissions officer much less than an 800. They know the deal with curves and silly errors and they're supposed to look at scores "within a range."

If you got anything over 700 (or probably even 650) I don't think there's any reason to cancel. From what I've heard, they won't hold a 710 against you. If you want an 800 you could always retake it.

to be honest math II is diff from most of the other tests, an 800 puts u below the 90th percentile and a 700 puts u somewhere in the 50 something percentile, basically the curve is super lenient therefore a higher score is expected if ur shooting for stanford i say its best to get 780+ for math II and 750+ on other tests but what do i know i got rejected by stanford :(

I feel like i did the same thing: studied barrons, knew the hard questions but got tripped up on the easier ones. I don't even think I broke 700.

^^do you have a link for that? I'm interested to see.

Barrons screwed me over. Not only did I overprepare on material way above what today's test tested for, but I also missed the easy questions due to the lack of preparation for those particular questions. So fustrated!!! I'm studing out of the PR or Kaplan next time.

omg i spent time on it...like i know the super hard questions
and got screwed over the easier questions

ugh
im soo madddd b/c i wanted a 800 and after reading about good results b/c of barrons i was sorta confident now sadly i think thats my lowest SAT subject test score ugh ugh ugh
