So like i never really took any honors or AP classes until junior year. The only honors class i took was freshmen year biology but i did horrible in the class. Junior year i took 2 AP classes AP calc BC and AP chem and got passing scores (:
Senior year the only AP im taking is AP eco but im planning to self study for AP bio, maybe physics and computer science. Other courses include regular english courses and physics. I'm not planning to apply to great schools but i am applying for state universities. So yeah how is this going to affect my admission chances?

universities still look at your senior year grades.

when i was in high school, some of my friends had been taking honors and AP classes all 4 years of high school…and we all talked about how we couldn’t slack off during our senior year…and had to give it our all until the last day of school because by the spring of senior year…we all knew what college we were going to and even then, colleges still want a final transcript.

because your applying to colleges right after ur junior year, everything u did junior year and before is whats gonna count for admissions…and also your SAT/ACT scores, letters of recc, etc.
so colleges arent gonna know your grades for these classes ur taking right now because you’ll still be taking them even after u submit ur college apps.

the 2 AP classes u took junior year will count, as long as u got good grades…like A’s.
Good luck!
i know this is a stressful time, college apps and all.

Senior year is very important. Self study will not help you. You will not have proof in time for your applications. Depending upon which State university you apply to, it can be quite competitive. The flagship state university will want to see students who are applying themselves, given their options. If you are taking the most challenging courses your school offers, then great. Otherwise, think about changing classes really quick.

If you are applying to a lower ranked college in your state, you probably can make it.

Our son is a senior and in the process of applying EA to several schools including Goucher and Earlham. He has ADD which wasn’t diagnosed until midway through his sophomore year, and his grades before then were not great. Once he started taking medication his grades improved. He is disclosing all of this on the Common App. The problem is, his grades this year have gone down again. We are working with his doctor to see if the meds need adjusting, but it also seems that the coursework this year is quite a bit harder than last year. If his senior grades are significantly lower than junior year, do you think there is a risk his acceptance could be rescinded under these circumstances? I am going to post this also on the forum for ADD and learning disabilities.

Colleges look at your senior year grades after you got accepted into their school and if you get under a 3.00, they can take away your spot.

&& colleges do look at what classes you are taking senior year to see if you are trying and not being lazy.
