How important is the SAT Writing section to Hamilton College?

Well, since Hamilton lets you choose what tests to look at (so long as there’s 1 quantitative, 1 writing/reading and 1 other) you can choose not to include the writing section whatsoever. Of course, you’ll have to find something like an ACT section or an AP test to replace it.

But if you do include it, I’d say pretty important. Hamilton does really pride themselves on writing.

Not only the SAT (or ACT) writing section is important, but also your essay writing style is highly reviewed. This is a school that if you are not excited about writing and oral communications, you will have a tough time to adjust. Best of luck.

It’s very important. You can get away with other scores but almost everyone I know did exceptionally well on the writing section. It’s almost a given that more than half the admitted class will score 700 + on the writing section.

I scored 750 on the writing section… I hope they accept me at hamilton…
