How impossible is it to get in if you applied late?

I applied fairly late (the application date on Wolverine Access says 12/30/08, but they didn't receive my test scores until 1/29/09) and I'm kicking myself for it now, but I want to know how low the acceptance rate goes for January applicants. My application is good (3.93 UM GPA, 2250 SAT I, three 800s on SAT IIs), but is it good enough for me to even hope of getting in?

If you can show me a single university that breaks down acceptance rates by when students submit their complete application, I would be very surprised! Obviously, Michigan does not publish such figures. By and large, applicants who complete their applications in January or early February aren't admitted. Obviously, you have strong credentials, so you still have a reasonable chance. But it is too bad you did not do your homework. Had you done so, you would have applied in October and most likely been admitted before Christmas. And given those stats, you could probably have gotten an nice little scholarship too.

I have similar stats, had everything in by mid-Jan and was just admitted last week for transfer admission for Fall 09. So it's possible.

You definitely have a chance.
