How is CS? And other questions

How is the Computer Science major compared to other SUNY colleges?

Also: I'm entering senior year of HS this September. This May I scored a 5 on the APCS A exam and a 4 on the APUS History exam. Can I expect those to transfer?

I understand it has become quite competitive to get into SUNYs, especially Binghamton, these days. With a 1400 SAT (2090 total), a decent GPA (I don't know the exact right now, hovering around 90), nice extra-curricular and community activities (several clubs/was featured in Newsday for starting an environmental initiative and was recognized by the county supervisor), and a good essay, how, do you feel, are my chances?

Another question: what furniture is provided for students that dorm?

I can’t compare Binghamton CS to other SUNYs since I’ve never attended another SUNY, but I don’t have any complaints about CS at Binghamton. I haven’t had a CS teacher that was bad and I’ve enjoyed and learned a lot in all my CS classes. I’ve been disappointed by my teachers and classes in other subjects, but CS has been great.

Dorm rooms contain 1 lamp, 2 beds, 2 desks with built in lights, 2 dressers, and 2 small cabinet things that fit under the desk. Lighting is pretty bad, I would suggest bringing your own lights.

I got in to both Binghamton and Stony Brook CS with similar grades, but it’s supposedly been getting harder to get in now because of the recession.

The Comp Science Major is pretty strong I would say. Stony Brook might be a bit stronger.

I am unable to answer the AP Credit question or the furniture, but Bootes got that one. Sorry, I don’t know the answers.

And with those stats, its a solid match. It’s not getting THAT competitive that those stats would be turned down, especially with EC’s, GPA and good test scores.
