I am an international student, I plan to take foothill college's online courses from my country, after that I plan to study in foothill college's campus to take care of the courses I couldn't take by online, then transfer to a UC by tag.

How is foothill college?

Do people consider it to be a good community college?

Is it located in a safe and decent neighborhood?

Is there anybody here who is going or went to foothill college?

Thank you for reading, please help out if you know anything about it.

Hey! I don’t know how much I can help you since I never attended Foothill for more than getting ahead in high school and getting stuff done in college. I’ve taken about 6 or so courses at Foothill. 3 of those were solely online, one relied heavily on their online system along with weekly meetings.

I LOVED Foothill. I liked the small, intimate classes and each professor I had really cared about what they were teaching and their students. The campus is very compact, the only downfall is it is on this gigantic hill. Great workout, always lost like 5 pounds every time I was there haha. I especially liked their online classes. Everything was always very well organized.

I think it’s good. I thought I got a quality education for what I paid at the time and I’ve never had a problem getting anything from the school or the teachers. I can’t say anything about the TAG program, just that I know a lot of successful adults and peers who went to Foothill and ended up in schools like Stanford. Personally, I wanted to go there and transfer but I had a reputation to maintain so I went straight to UCLA instead. Regret that big time lol. Regret UCLA period but that’s a whole other story. Counselors, eh. I’ve heard complaints from my friends which is why you have to be on top of your own game. Keep in contact with the schools you want to get into and make sure that their counselors are saying you’re on track. Don’t just take De Anza or Foothill’s word for it. You also have to make sure you don’t get complacent and slack on your work. Too many AP students go there and slack off and end up not making the cut for the transfer agreements.

It is in an amazingly safe location. Bit boring (everything in Los Altos shuts down about 8-9), but having been raised in that neighborhood I can tell you you will be safe and sound and in rich company haha. You do, however, have SF about an hour north and SJ just 20-30 mis south with the freeway right off the school so you can always weekend trip it to a more lively location. Just be prepared for some high rent and high costs of living. Los Altos is not a cheap place to be and people have the snobby attitudes to back it up.

mentioned above

All in all, I loved every experience I ever had at Foothill. Hope I helped!

I’ve taken some classes there, and agree with TrueBlue. I’d just add that although the location is very safe, it’s not in a real neighborhood; it feels more rural, though it’s just a few minutes from the Los Altos village, and abuts the 280 freeway.

Hi! I would like to do the same path to save money. But is it possible? Do they accept international student for online course first, then attend the rest later?
@ttaanny If you are a registered student you should be able to take any class the college offers that your prerequisites qualify for.
