Is it possible to break into wallstreet from rutgers? It seems like it is near impossible. any comments?

Sure, girl in my combinatorics class works at Goldman now. My cs friend is interning at JP Morgan. I turned down a internship this summer at a trading firm. Going to Rutgers isn’t what makes it hard to break into Wall Street, its that the average Rutgers student kinda sucks. You need to do well here.

Oh and I suppose its worth mentioning Rutgers Financial math is top ten so if you’re looking for a more direct way in you could try their 5 year ba/ma program.

I agree with needsmorsleep - You need to do well here. They want top students, require transcript to see what classes and grades your getting. Most want at least at 3.5 GPA and wont even look at you if your below that. You will need extra curricular activities as well to show your well rounded.

im sorry I was not clear…I was talking about front office positions…such as investment banking, sales and trading, etc. anyone know how hard it is to break in from rutgers. I know several people who work at citi, jpmorgan, and some at goldman sachs, but all work back office jobs such as operations, tech, etc.

Thanks for the input

My friend at Goldman is a financial analyst. Again, students coming out of the financial math program work in “front offices”
