like do they have to wake up at a certain time? and when do they have to wear their uniforms? and is it like the real military, where seniors yell at you and stuff? thanks

Coming to A&M I knew two guys that were going to go into the corp. One was my very good friend, and another a guy I met at fishcamp. The guy I met at fishcamp quit after a day. My friend quit after a week.

I think you have to wake up before 8 a.m. everyday. I always see them wearing their uniforms unless it’s like one of those weekends or some time which they don’t have to which I think is pretty rare.

I’m not sure how much seniors yell at you but I’m pretty sure the sophomores are the ones that love treating the new fish as poorly as possible.

As a freshman, you wake up every day very very early. You are expected to have spotless rooms, you are expected to have the exact uniform ready that is necessary each day. You are expected to wear it properly. You don’t where them all day, but for a lot of it you will. As a freshman, you are treated as the lowest of the low. You will get yelled at every day, its a cetainty but from what I have heard, it is the least of your worries. Sophomores will treat you as badly as they want to. You are expected to follow a strict schedule everyday. Basically, you will not have remotely the same experience at A&M as the rest of us who are not in the corps. This is what I have gathered from a long time friend I know. However, he would tell you whole heartedly that it is worth it. He would tell you that you will make very close friends that you will know the rest of your life. You become part of the tradition. It is something that isn’t for everyone, so just make sure it’s what you really want to do.

6am I believe is the wake-up time (for upperclassman), often times earlier for freshman. You follow strict orders just as in the military, you are yelled at for disobeying orders or messing up. You are expected to attend every class, and you have study hours daily where you do your homework. You get little free time in between drills, class, study, and other physical activities. Often times first semester freshman are not allowed internet access inside their dorm, and sometimes they will even have to surrender their cell phone.

The experience is very much like the military, probably a large reason behind why cadets go into the military during/after their time at A&M. If you aren’t interested in the military, don’t consider the corps.
