I've heard some not-so-nice things about the college as a whole, but the honors college is definitely MUCH more selective (60 kids WHAT?). Do I even have a chance of getting in with a 1410/1600 and 2080/2400 score if I have A LOT of research background and will have been doing research at SBU for two summers by the time I apply? I'm not even sure if i want to apply yet, I'd like to find out some more info first. Also, I am planning on being a medical doctor who does a lot of research or a PhD in... something not really sure what haha but I don't know if I could get into the combined MD program. I am currently a junior in HS. Also, Siemens semifinalist 2009-10.

not anything special. almost no one outside the tri-state area has heard of sbu, even though everyone at sbu thinks they’re awesome. and everyone is pre-med, so yeah. if you get into the combined program, then obviously definitely do it, but i think with your credentials you belong somewhere way better.

@ironicallyunsure… my SAT scores aren’t great so I’m looking a bit lower… and SBU would be MUCH cheaper
i’ve been searching around all day though and found out about cornell’s state funded schools which seem really cool. on paper CALS seems like a great fit but i wanna visit the campus in person

oh wow i noticed i left out the word “SAT” before 1410/1600 and 2080/2400… but i guess thats assumed

^^ feel free to PM me and i’ll take you around if you want to come visit. i’m in human ecology, so i’m also in the state funded one. you have time to retake the SATs if you’re still a junior. look at the class schedule and tell me some classes you’d want to sit in on and i’ll see if anyone i’m friends with can take you with them

ps vanderbilt gives great finaid, so you should consider applying there, too. also some privates give surprisingly good finaid. a lot of my friends from HS go to privates that ended up being cheaper than SUNYs because of their amazing packages.
