How is your school so far?

My S has a very tough sophomore schedule including AP Biology and Chemistry Honors. Only two days into the school year he already feels the stress. How is your school so far?

AP Lang & Comp is hell. But I had the same teacher freshman year and loved her.

And I absolutely LOVE all my classes - except Robotics, which I'm switching to AP Bio (which I LOVE).

But I'm a junior, and it's against the rules to love this year :P.

theoneo, how is your AP bio? My s has lot reading to do. Two chapters for this weekend in addition to two chapters during the summer. He is also seting up a lab experiment now. He finished the summer lab assignment.

I already feel the pressure as well. I am in trig honors and by school rules i can go straight to ap calc (if i make it) My teacher teaches my class and the rest of his classes are calc bc - seems very knowledgable but tough
English class - also tough, ouch. Very grammar-oriented class - she said all of her past students used to get 700-800s on Writing SAT II - she says she got us covered for the SAT's writing section. Just very intimidating. Reading 8-9 books this year in her class.

The rest of the teachers seem average

Another doppleganger of my thread :-P But that's a good thing. Mine's crappy so far, sad to say. See my thread for elaboration.

I'm not in AP Bio yet. School just started on Thursday. And I think I can't switch for another two weeks.

I feel pressured,,since I am taking way too many courses (11 courses), 9 of which are IB. :S

I love my teachers and classes but I'm pretty stressed out. I've got so much homework. I wasn't expecting such a tough Honors Chem teacher. She teaches her class like an AP class. I'm lost in AP Bio. I had a bad teacher last year and I can't seem to keep up. AP Art History... well I'll be teaching that to myslef seeing as my teacher knows absolutley nothing. She's trying... but I'm not expecting much of her. AP World should be fun. Its not too hard. AP Lang should be fun as well. I have the same teacher as last year so I know her styl of teaching which should help me out a bit.

this year should be stressful but fun. I'll learn alot. and my courseload should help my GPA out. its a bit low... well for me its low...

ELEVEN courses? How do you fit that many classes into a day?

My first two weeks of school have been OK. Mildly hectic at times, but it's not that bad. Yet. I won't have math until next semester, yay.

Lol I needed this thread to vent...

I think I'm going to explode. I am heavily involved (officer or equivalent) in 4 ECs (JSA, Acadec, Boy Scouts, Band) and have really tough classes with no study and am working 20 hours a week. Wouldn't recommend it.

[/complaining]

Otherwise, I guess its not too bad. At least I'm having fun in my EC's, which is why I do them.

I only have three classes this semester at the U of M as a senior:

Latin :D
Econ (Micro) :D
Organic Chemistry :)

The first two classes have been really awesome so far, and we havent done enough in OChem for me to be uber-excited about. I really think this is going to turn out to be an excellent semester. Plus I really like college schedules where classes only meet for a certain number of days a week. I only have 1 class on Tuesdays and Thursdays! :D

:)

After the first week of overdriven stress, my body gradually adapted to homework for four hours, sports, and extracurriculars. It's a miracle.

I'm looking for more stuff to do.

Mine is going AWSOME!!! I could use some more free time, but everything else is great. What can I say 2 choir classes, math, bio, and CLM... pretty easy course load compared to next semester.

what's CLM?

Career and Life Management, it's mandatory at my school. It's a boring class, well at least so far. They make us look at career options, which is totally pointless since I know what I want to do already. We also look at personal issues (suicide, pregnancy etc..)

OMFG. Tomorrow is the THIRD DAY of school and I'm already swamped with EC stuff - not to mention classes.

Today I did a bunch of stuff for one club like make an application for new members and start our advertising campaign. This week I need to make flyers and put them around the school, go to other district schools and ask if we can put flyers up there, schedule a meeting after school next week, and get us in local newspapers.

Tomorrow I have to meet my new guidance counselor and ask about switching courses, and they gave me the new guidance counselor after I had the same one for FIVE years, so I'm gonna try to get him back. There goes my study hall. Then I have Calc lab first half of lunch and an officers meeting for Amnesty about Katrina relief. After school, I have work until about 6:30, then homework.

Tuesday I have chem lab during study hall and will need to put flyers up around the school during lunch. A couple friends and I are probably gonna go to a middle and an elementary school about advertising after school.

Wednesday I have chem lab during study hall and I have to meet with the debate advisor about what kinds of things we're going to do new this year during lunch.

Thursday... I will love. Except that we have our first debate meeting and we have to take a bus to another school for something so I get to leave APUS early and we get free food =D.

Oh man I am SO behind in school already.

It's still okay, though. I love all my clubs, classes, and teachers =D.
