how late is late?

so i know that yale gives a little leeway for materials out of the student's control. i submitted all my things a week before deadline, and my counselor and teacher did too. except one. and the thing is, she knew that colleges gave leeway, so she wasn't even working towards our deadline. she was completely aware of it, but her view was that, as long as she had it in by this friday, it would be okay. and since she hasn't submitted it still, i'm assuming she's going to take until friday.

is this too late? it's essentially a week after my deadline. i tend to think 2-3 days after is okay, but 1 week leeway? my application won't get thrown out if they see it's still missing right? i can't use the "lost in the mail" reasoning since she's doing it online. :|

You're fine. Yale waits until Nov. 15 to notify students if they have missing school forms/teacher recs. It would hardly be the end of the world.

Does this mean they don't read your application until Nov. 15, or they read it as soon as your file is complete?

They might start with some complete files. But your Eli ID (you get in the mail, and it lets you know if Y processed all your info) doesn't tell you about the status of school forms until the 15th. I don't know.

I think it'll be fine. Like the others said, Yale doesn't even let you know about missing school forms until the 15th and your rec will get there by then. Everything should be fine.
