How likely is it that BU will give me money + loan q

so i was accepted and got fafsa money but NO BU grant money, which was disappointing considering my parents expected pay is like 4,000 and i have no college fund. i think they might have overlooked some financial circumstances, so we are appealing. i hear they dont really give much after appealing, but i hope they do considering our circumstances are rather complicated…do you think they will give me any money?

also, how do loans work. do all loans except for stafford and pickens (or something like that) have to be cosigned with parents like the PLUS loan? doesnt stafford and pickens (?) only have a limit of taking out 5,000? and if so, how can i get other loans if i need to take out more…my dad said i think that when he was in college he could take out loans that didnt have to be cosigned by his parents and there wasnt a limit as to how much you can take out, but that now to take them out you need credit or something, so thats why they are cosigned by parents…

That’s pretty darn good if your parents only have to pay $4000. I wouldn’t push it and ask for more, if you have to take out a loan than so be it. Not sure how the whole process works but it shouldn’t be difficult. I’m sure the finance dept at BU can help you sort it out. Wish we were in your shoes, we are full pay.

but the tuitions still 48,000 with the unsubsidized and subsidized loan and pell grant. and 4,000$ out of a 56k tuition doesnt really do anything lol. and then if my parents help its still like 44,000 so its not really affordable at all and idk how loans work, but im not going to get loans for the rest of that every year lol
