My first one is about 600 words and second is about 400. Im a bit nervous tho ive had my first essay read by a couple of people. But i havent had anyone read over my second. It is so hard to get people at my school to proof read them. Counsellors send me to transfer center and transfer center sends me to writting center who i always booked up. So im kind of stuck with not knowing if my second prompt is any good :(

Yo, is it bad if I haven’t even started mine yet?!

Haven’t started mine yet either

Yeah, don’t feel bad, Snorlaz. I’m procrastinating on the personal statement myself. It’s important and you should take plenty of time to reflect on it, but it’s not like you have to have started last month on it, lol. You’ll be fine.

Anyway, OP, I’ll probably plan to devote 600 words or so to the first prompt and 400 or so to the second prompt. I don’t know. I am certain that I’ll write a shorter response for the second prompt, though.

@Snorlaz most people I know haven’t ether, I do know one person who started before summer though. I just started mine this month. However I need to finish by tomorrow to email it to a Uni rep who offered to read it and help me out.

@Cayton I planned on doing the same, and ended up writing more than I thought I would have for the second prompt. Know I have 500 and 500, or at least trying to make it this way. I need to edit out parts

Mine are probably going to end up being about 700-300.

Best of luck with that, man. I think I’ll get started on my personal statement this weekend. I have procrastinated way too much, lol. My application is almost completely filled out and I still have nothing on the personal statement section. :P

What’s your major? Do you mind briefly summarizing your personal statement for it? I’m curious. :)

@Cayton im done with my app all i need to do is just finish my statements
Im a history major pretty much started off with how my interest begain and how it developed. Than i mentioned how i try to incorporate it in my life. Since i dont have any related ECs i kind of exagerrated…and i finished with my goals. To be honest this essay is a bit dry which is why i made prompt 2 very personal

I spoke to about 7 different uc reps from UCLA UCSB UCSC UCR UCI and most said not having related ECs was fine for my major except for UCB

Total - I have 957 words. I wrote more for the second prompt than the first.

@Sonic23

Interesting. I used to be a history major. Then I switched to philosophy because a friend of mine invited me to come to an introductory philosophy class with him. Out of boredom, I agreed. It was the best decision of my life because I realized that philosophy was for me that day.

How long did it take you guys to complete the rest of the app not including the PS’s? I’m going to start on both tomorrow.

@Snorlaz, it took me an hour, lol

My 1st prompt is like 500 words atm, but i think I might add more to it so it might be 600-700.
That might make my 2nd essay 300-400 words
