My second prompt is only about 430 words, my second should be around there. I’m trying to stay above 800 but obviously below 1000. I have found that depending on your topics for the first prompt (where you describe a talent accomplishment etc), there is only so much to say before you get a little repetitive. I’m trying to just get to the point without filler.

I hope thats just for one, in which case you have to compensate in the other essay. If that is for two, I would see where you could expand. You have to be pretty amazing to write an admissions essay in so few words, no offense.

Hey, I just submitted my application and essay (relieved ). If anyone would like me to proofread his or her essay, I’d be happy to do it. I’m a Linguistics major and I love correcting grammar and editing! PM me if you’re interested!

This year, I’m considering a different approach, and I want it shorter! I’m not sure that any of my personality came through in the first prompt at all.

I thought the first topic (intended major) was much more important than the second, so I focused most of my word count there – 582 words. I believe my second one was only 412 words.
