How long does it take for SAT scores to be sent out?

We ordered the score reports to be sent electronically to the colleges on my son's list on Oct. 29th. The official score reports came out today, but the score reports still say..."pending." Does this happen every time? I thought that they would be sent automatically. He did apply early action to some colleges with a 11/1 deadline. Will this be a problem? Thanks for any input.

I wish I knew, we ordered scores to be sent electronically to 5 schools on Oct 23rd and they still say pending. I emailed CollegeBoard and the reply said 1-2 week. Friday will be 2 weeks, I plan to call if they are not sent. I think they must be having a problem, why would it take so long for an electronic transmission?

Same problem. Ds ordered one on the 25th, and it’s still pending. I don’t think others have taken anywhere near this long. It’s either because of the busy period, or I wasn’t really watching/worrying before.

We sent scores to nine colleges on October 22nd, and when I checked over the past weekend, the Score History showed that they had already been sent.

Some where on the college board web site says that it can take up to 4 weeks for processing. I remember being very surprised reading that since I also think why would anything done electronically take that long.

Anyway, we requested in September for an early school, checked 3 days later and the status already said sent. We requested for a bunch more schools on 10/26 and I just checked, still pending.

My guess is that the Oct test scores just came out and college app season is kicking into high gear, so requests will take longer.

Since they are electronic, do you think the report will have the date that they were requested …like a postmark? So even though they arrive after the 11/1 deadline, they were “postmarked” by 11/1.

I can understand it would take longer if you were using score choice, but my son is sending all his scores. I don’t get it. Should I have done the “express” service for more money? I didn’t do that because I thought I heard that was only necessary for “paper” scores.

Most colleges have electronic delivery (and actually that can work by just having a computer file at College Board for the college into which go any scores ordered to be sent to that college). Downloads can occur on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. So mainly it is just a question of how fast the CB can put your score into the computer file and that should be a matter of days but then the download might not occur until a week or two weeks later and thus “delivery” may not be until then.

Now the reality: though there are a few exceptions, generally EA and ED colleges with Nov 1 deadlines for apps accept October scores and they can arrive after the deadline date (mainly they just want them by mid-Nov). In fact, if you check you will find that most EA and ED colleges even accept Nov test scores.

Our request to send scores are still pending today (since Oct 23rd). All should be electronically sent within 1-2 weeks. It’s 2 weeks today. The response to my inquiry stated I needed to wait until after the 2 week timeframe to question when they would be sent.

Has anyone had score requests sent recently?

I sent some prior SAT scores recently to a few colleges and paid the additional expedited service charge and it still took 5 business days. I know most of my D’s colleges have their policy regarding standardized test due dates on their web site.

We’re in the same boat seenitall. Our request was made on 10/26 and still has pending status. I called yesterday and the woman said it can take two weeks for them to process and one week for the school to download the file. EA deadline is 11/15 which is a week from Sunday so we are running out of time. I just hope that next week this gets done or the school is understanding if the scores don’t arrive by 11/15.

We had requested scores be sent to another institution on 10/1 and they were sent on 10/9. I thought the second request would take a similar amount of time, but I was wrong. I won’t make this mistake with kid 2…learning my lessons with kid 1.

campbellmom, I thought the same thing about the second time around! :)

3 weeks from the date of request sounds about right. My order from 10/22 was filled yesterday, but 10/25 is still waiting.

FYI, scores ordered Oct. 25 have been sent. I love that I learned that FIRST on a cc thread! :)

We ordered the scores on OCT. 29th. They were sent today, November 6th. Finally!

I checked again and they were sent today. One less thing to worry about!

Yes ours were sent today, sometime after 4pm. FInally!

We ordered scores to various schools on October 23 and 29 and November 5, and they ALL went through November 6. One day service on the scores we didn’t really need sent yet!!! Maybe the system was crashed over all the early action requests. I am assuming the schools were hit with thousands of EA scores yesterday that people thought would be there by the 1st.
