Guys, I submitted my Penn application on Nov. 5th, and they gave me the portal on the next day. I live in MD but they have not contacted me for an interview yet. I heard some friend from Baltimore getting an interview offer and that kind of worries me. Do you know how long it takes them to contact me? Thanks!

if it’s any consolation, i submitted everything by october 11th and still haven’t heard back. i live in a crowded area where alums are sure to be teeming, but guess by now that i’ll just assume im not getting one:/ maybe wait it out a few more days, you should hear back by then

Don’t worry about it. Last year, two friends of mine who went to my high school applied ED Wharton and both got in even though only one of them had an interview.

My Son applied 10/30 and was called today for interview.

i applied around 10/15 and got an email from an alumnus yesterday.

hm.

I know 4 other ED applicants that live in my area, and we all submitted our applications (roughly) at the same time - about a week ago.

Is it strange that they (almost) immediately received offers for interviews and I still have not received notice?

HALP

PLUHS

freakin’ out ovah heer.

^ Doesn’t mean anything. Read this entire page:

[Interviews - Penn Admissions](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/apply/freshman-admission/interviews)

Whether or not a particular applicant gets an alumni interview is rather random, and is no indication of chances of admission.

^ I realize I’d be making an assumption here, but surely a good interview would help my application; I realize that it won’t “count against” me, but it won’t ‘help me’ either. This, and the fact that I am literally the only other person to have not been offered an interview, is what’s bothering me.

It’s still relatively early, as page217 just released a blog post about interviews yesterday. I wouldn’t worry about it too much.

I have a question about interviews and since there’s a running topic about it already I’ll just ask it here.

Do you guys think admissions glance through applications as they come in and sort out the “definitely weren’t even close to making the cut” ones out? So those people might not get interviews? (not implying anything for people who haven’t gotten one yet…I know it’s based on availability of alumni and some people get in to Penn without interviews).

But just in general, is there any system at all for interviews? Or do they literally try to give EVERYONE an interview regardless of their applications?

For all of those worried about not receiving an interview, don’t worry. It all depends on where you live and if there are any Penn alumni nearby. Personally I live in a rural Iowa town so I really don’t expect to get an interview.

@iSeraphic: Penn doesn’t pre-sort apps to determine interview offers. The zero-chancer is treated the same as the shoo-in. There’s not enough time to do that. As soon as the completed app is rec’d by Penn, the contact info is sent out to the local alumni clubs.

For some colleges, international apps do get a read through and interviews are offered to realistic candidates only – due to the dearth of available volunteers

Oh, well that’s reassuring. I sent my app in on 11/5, and haven’t received anything about an interview yet. Granted, it’s only been 10 days, but when you think about it, we’re less than 30 days away from getting decision emails as it stands.

But as recommended, I won’t stress over it. :)

heh.

Update: I did, in fact, receive an offer for an alumni interview today. It’s been approximately 9 days since I’ve submitted my application.

Then again, I do live in an apparently heavily-Penn populated region of Florida… so for those of you that have yet to receive an offer, remember that you still have until the end of the month!

~gl to all

It’s been over a month since I submitted my application, but I finally got my interview email!!! anyone know if the questions were tough or straightforward?

Had my Penn interview today and it was Starbucks-level casual. Just make sure you can articulate what you’re looking for in Penn and can speak about yourself effectively. My guy told me interviewers have until next week to submit their reports so for those who applied ED and haven’t gotten interviews, chances are you wont get interviewed if you don’t get an email in the next couple of days.

I got mine after two months.
