Short Essay
In the space available discuss the significance to you of the school or summer activity in which you have been most involved.

^Why only school or summer activity? I have been most involved with my music and flamenco, but it's neither a school activity nor simply an activity that occurs during the summer. It's a "life activity." Would I still be able to write an essay about the importance of flamenco in my life, as it IS my main extracurricular?

Also, exactly how long would this "short" essay be? My essay is about 500 words but no words are wasted, it's flowy, and it reads quite fast. Do you think it would be alright if I use it, or should I elaborate on something else?

Thanks in advance!

I feel as though the flamenco would be okay, since it could be a ‘summer’ activity too. I don’t think they’ll be too picky.

I have the same question about the length, though! Also about the length of the ‘long’ essays…how many words is their “one page?” 500? 700? Anyone know?

its supposed to be around 150 words; its comparable to the CommonApp’s short answer.

I second what longchamp said: it is supposed to be just like the cao short answer. and i think it would be fine to write about flamenco/music; it sounds like you’re very passionate. 500 words does sound a little long, but if it really is a fast flowy read then…

good luck!

Mine is ~400 words; I wrote on music and what it means to me. Ugh, I wish I’d known to keep it around 200, because I’m rather proud of my creative juices today XD

Mine’s right around 400 as well. My other essays are 600 and 700 (the last is a bit long, but reads well and quickly). Since it says “about a page”, and 400 words is less than a pg, I’m keeping mine as is. 600 is closer to about a page.
