short answer lengths

how long are your first 2 essays?

Mine are pretty long...my Why Chicago is 391 words

My 2nd essay (artist) is 532 words.

mine are on the long side, 250 and 400 respectively.

240 and 170. I condensed mine.

337 for why chicago, 215 for the second.

6 and 7 sentences?
@_@

350 - why chicago and 200

like 420-ish and like 500-ish, respectively.

PHEW thanks anticatalyst...I really wanted mine to be good, so they're looong!

long = good? perhaps .....

short + efficient = good ... trust me

Exactly 656 for the first one and 810 for the second.

How can you stay under 500 words for the second topic?

I guess you only picked one thing? I picked two/three things and to be able to elaborate on them alone uses up 500 words. Add in a small intro and conclusion and mine's scraping 700 for the second.

"How can you stay under 500 words for the second topic?"

Hahaha, by blowing off the topic.

I couldn't pick, and my longer essay touched on a lot of my artistic/literary/etc. influences anyway, so I went on a rant about how rap and poetry are the same thing and kind of inserted Saul Williams, Martin Espada and Mr. Lif into it to answer the question...?

400 for the first one (3 paragraphs?)
and 250 for the second one (one paragraph).

I just wrote about "Salaam Bombay!" for the second one. I wasn't really worried about length, just wrote as much as I was inspired to write, really. Same for you; if your muse is urging you to write more, do so, and if not, it'll still be good as long as it's yours.

I'm just making sure I stay between 250 and 500 words. :P They may be closer to the 250 mark though.

ah. mr. lif. Great MC. Mo' Mega was a dope album. Good to know another hip hop head is applying to chicago. I thought I would have to ditch all my hip hop and join the indie rock bandwagon to fit in at chicago, haha.

"I thought I would have to ditch all my hip hop and join the indie rock bandwagon to fit in at chicago, haha."

Hahaha, I hope not. I promise if I get in you'll have at least one ally(!) That is, if you don't mind hanging out with white trash from Boston.

Why Chicago?: 188
Author - Richard Dawkins: 202

Short and sweet - they did say one or two paragraphs.

why chicago? 366
other one: 220

anticatalyst, ur from boston?
