My range of last 3 practice tests have been 1390-1420. I just took the actual SAT today and won’t know my scores till July 10th I want to score 1500+. Is from now-August enough time to study to achieve this goal realistically? My dream would be 1530+ but I’m not sure if that’s realistic.
Basically, if 1530+ is my goal and right now I’m making around 1400, should I take 2 months to study and take it in August or an extra month and take it in October? I’m asking because between now and early admission deadlines I want to take the sat one more time and then one time take subject tests, and idk how long those take to study for to score near perfect or how long to increase my score that much.
Thank you!
How have you been study? When you take practice test, you shouldn’t just keep taking them, look at the questions you got wrong and understand why you got them wrong
Well I’ve never tried it, but apparently you can link your college board account to Khan academy and they will make a personalized study plan for you based on your previous sat.
Your goal is realistic. If you were one of my students, I would probably tell you to take it both times. If you don’t plan on taking until October, you will probably slack-off to some extent in your prep over the summer (assuming your are like 99.9% of other students). This way you’ll put in more effort. Also, if you do really well in August, you won’t have to take it again. Also, Also, I think most students are less stressed testing when they anticipate testing again. If you take the test in August planning to take again you will probably be less stressed and this will have a positive impact on your score.
Also, based on another post of yours I just responded to, I don’t think Khan Academy will be the most useful thing for you at this point. There is probably still stuff you need to learn, but I think you are probably beyond Khan at this point.
It is possible to increase your score to a 1500 and even higher but the time it takes you to reach your goal depends largely on how much time you’re willing to commit to studying every week.
I would take it twice for sure but I also need to take subject tests one of those times and thank you for the comment about khan academy I won’t use it. Currently my plan is to for (I should be finished with all of this within the month easily) math doing all of the uworld math problems and going through the college panda math book, and for English and reading studying from Erica meltzer’s books.
Well, Elite Prep has this “guarantee” of getting to 1500, and if you add up the number of hours for prep and test-taking for their bootcamp course, it adds up to around 100 hours. 8 8-hour days over a two week span, and an additional 10 Saturday 4-hour class. With the right motivation, dedication and training materials, you can pretty much emulate this yourself at home too. A big key is to take the practice tests under the same conditions - no distractions, same timings.
Aw ok thank you, I probably should try and set myself up a boot camp type thing where I have like no phone distractions or connection to the outside world for a few hours a day
