How many applicants accepted from one high school?

Does it affect your chances of admission if people from your high school have already been admitted via early decision? Two people at my school were admitted ED to tufts and of the others that applied RD, only one was accepted. They have been blaming this on the fact that Tufts would not take more than so many from one school, and the ED-ers had already taken those spots.

How legitimate is this?

Not legitimate at all.

Not true at all. The “others” would be wholly incorrect in assuming that as a reason for our decisions.

[Aside: Remember the “others” in LOST? Those people were craaaaazy]

^^Haha Dan, I read that first line and immediately thought of Lost when you said “others.” Then I read the rest of your post and it made me so happy! :)

Colleges pick applicants out of the whole applicant pool, they don’t pick a fixed amount from each school lol.

Unless they wrote their essays about how much the regular decision kids sucked…

…then no.

Completely not true. Our high school generally has anywhere between 10 and 15 applicants to Tufts. Usually, only one or two gets in. Tufts was an especially popular school for my classmates this year, and despite the fact that my graduating class has relatively weak scores and GPAs compared to other years, we had four students accepted. Therefore… it’s ok. You still have a shot.
