How many APs should we take to be good enough, i took 4 this year and the rest honors and next year I have seven AP, that is about the max that our school offers, except for those random ones i didn't take like Art history. But I mean how many are good enough for top schools (HYP)? and how many did you take and what school did you get into?

The best thing to do is to take all that are offered (excluding weird electives like Art History). Colleges will understand that you took the most rigorous curriculum offered to you and will be satisfied.
On a different note, was AP Calc offered and did you take it? If it was offered and you did not take it than top schools won't be incredibly thrilled.

I am going to be a senior next year AP Calc AB and AP Statistics hopefully make up for no BC Calc. Do colleges consider APs that you take senior year as well bc, I only took four so far bc that is about the most you can take on average.

Yeah you should be fine. It sounds like you took everything possible, and if that's true, there isn't anything more you can do. Like I said, colleges will understand that you took the most challenging classes possible and that you did well in them. Your chances of admission do not go down if more APs weren't offered to you, so don't worry :)

if you took all that they offered how can anyone complain?

Well at my school the ppl i know all take about the same number of AP so I really considered the courseload average, with that being said the ppl i know are about the top 20 ppl in the school but whatever. How many did yall take and where did yall go.
FYI: yall=you all for the Yankees :)

My school offers IBs, so I can't really comment on how many APs I took, but I will say that I took all IB courses offered to me (none were offered during freshman and sophomore year, so this works out to be about 8 IBs)

Seven APs next year??? Good enough? And what are these responses??? Only in CC you see advice like this. Seven is overachieving in any book, whether it be CC or not. I can't even believe you're worrying about this... what kind of guidance counselor do you have to make you feel insecure in seven APs? Your primary concern should be: "how am I going to satisfactorily pass such difficult subjects in such a variety of fields?"

I totally agree with this and Gryffon.

Honestly, Seven Ap's? My god. If that's not enough to you, I don't know what is. As long as you make the most out of what your school offers you, it is fine, as the admission officers take into account the difference in schools and circumstances. This year, out of the seniors, 1 is going to Harvard, 1 to Yale, 3 to Stanford, All of them had 1 AP soph, 3~4 Ap's Junior, 3~4 ap's senior year.

I know it might be limiited because I can't speak for all schools but mine (and a couple others I know / friends from other schools know) but I want to emphasize: It's not about the # of Ap's.

My cousin got into UC Berkeley (I consider this school really good, i dont know about you) with 2 Ap's the entire high school year.

Don't worry.

Passing isn't a concern, THE LORD has blessed me to do really well in about any class. Our guidance counselor really can't help I go to public school and there are 526 kids in our class so she really can't help us. The people who do go to top schools pretty much get there on their own. But not many people go to top schools about the top ten people and then noone else.
