<p>I think it's better to take at least 5 at first, and since you're a freshman your drop date is later than everyone else's. This way, if you're doing poorly in a class you can drop it and still have 4 credits.</p>
<p>You do have to take a couple semesters with 5 courses, but for the most part, you can take 4. I even took 3 once and got away with it but that was a special circumstance.</p>
<p>Tufts has classes over the summer, so I was just wondering how many people took them. I know a lot of people at other schools who take classes over the summer to make the regular school year a little less stressful, or if they have a double major it helps to make sure that they get out in four years.</p>
<p>^ Well, no...taking 5 classes a semester doesn't mean you take less electives, it would only mean more, as you would have more spots available for them, especially by senior year, when you've all but covered all requirements by taking 5 classes/semester.</p>
<p>Some people take classes over the summer, but it's mostly pre-med students who do that so that they can study abroad or not have to double up on science classes. Most students take 4 or 5 classes a semester, but taking more than that is very tough to manage.</p>
